What Is CBD?
CBD is short for cannabidiol, which is one of many different natural substances within the cannabis plant that are known as cannabinoids. It’s important to remember that although CBD is sourced from the cannabis plant it is 100% legal and does not cause a high. CBD is usually sourced from the hemp variety of the plant, given that hemp extract contains large amounts of CBD but small amounts of THC. This is important as THC is the illegal and psychoactive cannabinoid within the plant, and CBD products must contain less than 0.2% THC in order to remain legal. CBD can be consumed in a variety of ways, most commonly through using CBD oil, but CBD drinks such as coffee have began to soar in popularity in recent years.
Why Use CBD Coffee?
CBD coffee offers one of the best CBD drinks for many reasons. It’s ideal for those who want to get a caffeine boost alongside the benefits of CBD without having to make too many changes to their daily routine, and it’s a much tastier alternative to using CBD vape oil or CBD oil. Others choose to use CBD coffee as it’s a less daunting way of taking CBD. The chances are people are much more familiar with drinking a cup of coffee rather than consuming CBD oil drops. CBD coffee can be consumed at your desk, at work, or even at home, and the subtle packaging means it will save the long list of questions you may face from friends or work colleagues.
Is CBD Coffee Safe?
Yes, CBD coffee is perfectly safe to use. You can use CBD in confidence knowing that the World Health Organisation has classified it as safe for human consumption. However, you need to be mindful not to consume too much coffee as doing so could be unsafe, both due to excess caffeine consumption and also excess CBD consumption. Roughly you should not consume more than 400mg of caffeine a day and you should not consume more than 70mg of CBD per day. Consuming excess caffeine could provide a range of negative effects, whilst consuming excess CBD could result in some unwanted side effects such as drowsiness and diarrhea. Additionally, if you are new to using CBD then it is best to consult your doctor or a healthcare professional before doing so. CBD may not be right for everyone, especially if you take prescription medications where the reaction with CBD is unknown.
Is CBD Coffee Legal?
Yes, CBD coffee products are legal so long as they contain less than 0.2% THC. Tetrahydrocannabinol, otherwise called THC, is the psychoactive substance found in the cannabis plant and is the illegal part of the plant. Under UK laws all CBD products sold are to contain less than 0.2% THC. This is a tiny amount and is nowhere near enough THC for anyone to feel the effects of it, and many products are even completely free of THC.
When Should I Drink My CBD Coffee?
There is no right or wrong answer as to when you should drink your cup of CBD coffee. Many of our customers choose to drink their CBD coffee as a morning brew, whereas others choose to drink it as a midday treat to help them see through the remainder of the working day. All of our CBD coffees will come with the companies recommended dosages and ingredients, but as a rule of thumb it is best not to exceed 8 cups of coffee per day.
Can I Use CBD Coffee For Anxiety?
No, we would not recommend using CBD coffee for anxiety. All of the products we sell here at The CBD Planet UK are not designed or sold to diagnose, treat or cure and medical conditions and we advise you instead speak to your GP or a healthcare professional should you be experiencing any health conditions.
Will CBD Coffee Get Me High?
No, CBD coffee will not get you high. Our coffees contain less than 0.2% THC as guided by UK laws, with many even being THC free. THC is the psychoactive substance found within cannabis plants and is responsible for the high feeling sought by recreational cannabis users. With such a small amount or lack of THC, it is not possible to experience a high. Be sure to check the product page to determine the THC content of each product. Some products even contain a lab report to provide confirmation of their contents.
Does CBD Coffee Contain THC?
Some of our CBD coffee products may contain small traces of THC, however many are completely THC free. Those which do have small traces can only have 0.2% THC in order to remain legal. Any higher than this and the product would not be legal in the UK.
What Is The Entourage Effect?
The entourage effect is the belief that CBD is more effective when consumed alongside other cannabinoids instead of on its own. To further explain this, it will be useful to detail the difference between full spectrum and broad spectrum CBD.
Full spectrum CBD is CBD which contains the full spectrum of cannabinoids from the hemp plant. This means it contains up to 0.2% THC alongside all the other cannabinoids, meaning it is most likely to be able to provide the entourage effect.
On the other hand, broad spectrum CBD is CBD which contains only a broad spectrum of cannabinoids from the hemp plant. Crucially the THC is completely removed and so the likelihood of experiencing the entourage effect is reduced. However, this type of CBD is beneficial for those who do not want to consume THC, perhaps due to work related drugs tests.
Can The Caffeine Interfere With The CBD?
Both caffeine and CBD include a range of benefits but many people become concerned about both substances counteracting and working against each other. Caffeine is a substance often responsible for a jittery feeling after consumed. This is because caffeine is a stimulant for the brain and nervous system. It blocks the effects of chemicals such as neuromodulator adenosine which links to drowsiness. CBD on the other hand is often said to be calming. This leads to the assumption that they will cancel each other out. The truth is, far more research needs to be carried out into the effects of mixing CBD and coffee in order to give a definitive answer.
How Many Coffees Can I Drink A Day?
This will depend on which CBD infused coffee you choose and how much you use per cup. Each product will have a recommended serving size which will also be accompanied by the maximum recommended number of cups to drink. It is best to stick to this guidance, but roughly as a rule of thumb you should not consume more than 70mg of CBD per day. You should also be mindful not to consume more than 400mg of caffeine per day.
How Much CBD Is There Per Coffee?
How much CBD there is per cup will depend on which product you choose to go for. Some of our products contain as little as 4mg of CBD per cup, whilst others contain up to 10mg. There’s no set best amount of CBD and it is all down to personal preference to work out what works best for you.
Does CBD Coffee Taste Different?
No, the beauty of CBD infused coffee is that the taste is exactly like the coffee we all know and love, but with the added benefit of CBD. Each cup of coffee will taste different, but you should review the product to determine what type of beans and coffee grounds are used so you can get a gauge for the flavour.
How Do I Brew My Coffee?
CBD infused coffee can be brewed in exactly the same way as a normal coffee, you do not need to do anything differently and can use exactly the same brewing method that you are used to. Whether that be the pour over method, french press or the cold brew, each method is just a suitable.

When Can I Expect To Feel The Effects?
When using a CBD coffee product the CBD within the drink has to pass through the digestive tract and be broken down within the liver before the effects can be felt. This means you can roughly expect to feel the effects on the body within around 30 minutes to an hour. This is of course a rough guide and will differ depending on how much CBD you consume as well as individual factors. Drinking your coffee on an empty stomach such as first thing in the morning may reduce the time it takes to feel the effects.
How Long Will The Effects Last?
The effects of CBD coffee will roughly be felt on the body for around 4-6 hours. This is a very rough guide however, as it will depend on how much CBD is in the coffee, as well as individual factors.
